Saga Scouts exists to help young people develop character, self-reliance, leadership, practical skills, and a strong connection to their heritage, community, and the natural world. Our program is inspired by the traditions, values, and worldview of Ásatrú as understood within the Asatru Folk Assembly.
We seek to foster honorable conduct, personal responsibility, and respect for family, community, and the gods.
The Nine Noble Virtues
The Nine Noble Virtues stand at the heart of Saga Scouts’ mission to raise capable, honorable, and resilient children. These timeless principles, rooted in the wisdom of our ancestral heritage, offer more than abstract ideals — they provide a practical framework for navigating the complexities of modern life with clarity and purpose.
Within Saga Scouts, the Virtues are not treated as suggestions or occasional reminders. They are the foundation upon which our programming and community standards are built. From the youngest member learning to complete their first task with persistence, to the seasoned leader making difficult decisions with integrity, the Virtues guide our actions and shape our character.
Saga Scouts creates an environment where excellence is pursued not for recognition, but as a matter of personal duty. Members internalize that character is forged through consistent action, that honor is demonstrated through service to others, and that true strength includes the courage to choose rightly when no one is watching.
The Nine Noble Virtices thus serve as both compass and anchor — orienting our members toward worthy ends while grounding them in traditions that have sustained communities for generations. Through their application, Saga Scouts develops individuals prepared not merely to succeed in life, but to lead lives of meaning, contribution, and enduring worth.

Community and Identity
Saga Scouts is rooted in the folk traditions and religious outlook represented by the Asatru Folk Assembly. We recognize the importance of ancestry, family, kinship, and cultural continuity in shaping individual and community identity.
Our program emphasizes strong families, positive role models, service to community, and the transmission of traditions from one generation to the next.
Understanding of Sex and Gender
Saga Scouts operates according to the traditional understanding that biological sex is an objective reality and that men and women have distinct but equally valuable roles within family and society.
Our activities, youth programs, leadership standards, and organizational policies are developed according to this understanding. While we treat all people with courtesy and respect, Saga Scouts does not organize its program around contemporary gender-identity concepts and does not adopt gender-identity-based policies or teachings.
